Ingredients:
1/2 Tbs salt
4 - 4.5 cups spelt flour (or whole spelt)
1/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons yeast
1 and ¼ cup warm water
Less than ½ cup oil
Add all the ingredients in order. Avoid having the salt touch the yeast,
Mix and knead the dough. You can add more flour if dough is very sticky but don't add too much.
Shape into small donut shapes, they fry better with a hole. Allow to rise for a few minutes while the oil heats in a pot. Deep fry on both sides. Coat in confectionary sugar or top with chocolate chips while hot and spread with a knife (that's what I did).
This dough is great for challah or Babka
